About Sue

Sue Musson is a seasoned leader with 30 years’ experience in senior executive and non-executive roles. She is the founder of three businesses under the Firecracker brand and has led numerous organisations including her own successful businesses.

Her unique insights into leadership have been shaped by encounters with remarkable individuals, including royalty and sports icons. She has met a lot of ordinary people who demonstrate extraordinary skill, too.

Sue is passionate about sharing her expertise to help others believe in themselves and to unlock their leadership potential. She is on a personal crusade to eradicate imposter syndrome.

Sue Musson achieved her first board-level leadership role at the age of twenty-seven. Since then, she has witnessed the good, the bad and the ugly of leadership practice. She is keen to share her learning with others. Her first book, Firecracker Leadership, is now available.

Her experiences and stories about leadership span the full gamut of highs and lows, all of which she recounts with honesty, insight and humour. Her goal is to provide practical advice to help others achieve the best manifestation of their own leadership.

Sue has had the honour of serving for fifteen years as a non-executive director and chair of five significant healthcare organisations within the National Health Service (NHS). Most recently, she led Liverpool University Hospitals, one of the UK’s largest NHS trusts, throughout the pandemic.
